Specklebelly goose call

Specklebelly goose call

I discovered  a jewel this last spring.  While on a job site, I met Bill Danials of Riceland Custom Calls.  Bill and his partner design, make and sale custom duck and goose calls.  Their specialty however is the Specklebelly (speck) goose call.

I grew up hunting specks in Southwest Louisiana with my Dad and my PawPaw.  I was given my first call at age ten, a P.S. OLT Fox/Coyote call, model T-20.  That predator call was the best call for specks that we could find.  By clamping down on the bell and blowing short bursts from the diagraphm, it sounded a lot like a speck.  I used the very same call this last season.  It's my favorite call.  I've hunted specks most of my life with it and the call was a gift from my PawPaw.  It is priceless.

The custom Speck call by Riceland Custom calls trumps the T-20 in sound and variation in spades!  I LOVE this call.  It allows the hunter to mimick a specklebelly goose in a viriety of situations and tones. It took me a few minutes to adjust to a different grip, but once I found the "breaking point", it was on.  I had a hard time blowing through the smile on my face.  Bill gave me a personal demonstration and I was sold.  Bill competes in calling competitions with the Riceland Custom Calls and wins; consistantly.

I highly recommend this speck call by Riceland Custom Calls.  The call can be purchased either in Acrylic, Poly, or custom, exotic woods.  The calls are hand crafted by Bill Daniels and James Meyers (co-owner and founder).

These duck calls are available with wooden barrels and acrylic inserts or in cast acrylic. You can purchase them either in double reed or single reed.

Visit Riceland Custom Calls at www.ricelandcustomcalls.com for the complete line of calls.  Also supplied on their site are sound files for all of their calls.  Go listen to them, you'll be enlightened.
