Simple Decoy that Work's

I try to attend most every Hunting event I can within 200 miles of my house in Alabama and when I do, I seek out the Wise old Veterans of Turkey Hunting or Deer hunting. Thursday March 10th,  2011 was such an event and was held at the Mark’s outdoors annual Turkey Day 2011. Johnny Ponder of Salt Creek Productions and maker of the Cletus: the most effective, easiest to carry and setup, Cletus Decoyalong with being one of the safest turkey decoy's on the market. This decoy has been under testing for over 5 years and has been found to be the most practical decoy I have ever seen. Seasoned hunters with well over 150 years of combined turkey hunting experience developed it. "Cletus" portrays a sub-dominate gobbler and all the dominate males want to run him off, while all the younger males want to pal around with him, so he attracts all gobblers. It has been very successful in open areas but he is also a very effective decoy when most of your hunting is in the deep woods. He weights only 14 oz. and folds up small enough to fit in a vest pocket. He comes with his own hunter blaze orange bag with a drawstring for ease of carrying. You are not carrying a full size turkey decoy through the woods with you, so the safety factor is the best. When you get to your setup place, you are flashing a blaze orange bag around, which adds even more safety. I have even hung the bag in a bush close to my setup area and I have never noticed any adverse affects on turkeys. All you need for setup is some clippers or a knife to cut off a small bush about 2' high. Stick his head on it and using a small stick, pin the tail strap to the ground and you are ready to go. By placing "Cletus" on a green, living stem, it will make him very hard to be blown over by the wind, and by leaving the wing flaps unpinned, it will give him some life-like movement when windy. One word of advice: do not set old' "Cletus" up too close because a mad fighting tom is hard to hit with a XXX full choke shotgun at close range. Been there and done that!  Take my word for it; it is the most phenomenal decoy you will ever use.

Quote from Johnny Ponder “I have hunted on public land all my life, and when decoys became legal in Alabama I wanted to use one, but wasn't too comfortable carrying a full size decoy through the woods. That is when I started working on a safe, easy to use decoy. It turned out much better than I thought, and has been the favorite decoy of all that have used him.”

Another note: These decoys were all hand made by the employees of Alabama Industries for the Blind in Talladega, Alabama.
