Getting Ready!

Another hunting club weekend has come and gone and it was a hot one. The heat index yesterday was 110 degrees. I couldn't seem to drink enough water and Gatorade! I had not planned any great projects since the old Ford tractor was still in the shop. Chipper and I got to the camp Saturday morning and got to work making preparations for the Talk Hunting 2nd Anniversary Party. Bubba Hebert and Rob came in and started bush hogging and weedeating around the camp site. I cranked the Snapper and started mowing and a half a round on the camping site, when something came loose in the motor, that ended that, so I switched gears and started working on the porch of the "Silver Streak", my old aluminum skinned, aluminum framed camper trailer. I have guest staying there for the upcoming party.

I started by taking some glass out of one window to install a 5000 btu a/c unit. I broke the tip off my Buck Knife taking a glass out, I was not happy! I started putting up a 12 foot wall, my Paslode nail gun would not work, so every nail had to be hand driven, not a big deal, except for the arthritis and the herniated disc. Every strike of the nail was agony for my hands and working over head was killing my neck. I know what you're thinking, old people complain a lot! The reality of it is that there is a lot to complain about at my age. If I knew that I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of my self.

I got the wall up and Chipper joined in and help me after dinner time and we got the wall up and sheathed and then added the ceiling joist. After that, I was done for the day, I couldn't move anymore. Bubba Hebert and Rob packed it in too and head back to Zachary. Chipper and I got showers and started supper. Pan broiled ribeyes, baked potatoes, and a nice green salad and a few Creme Sodas. Chipper and I took time to walk some of the trails that I had selected for the Talk Hunting 3D archery shoot. We should easily be able to have 20 stations in a short walk easily and some of the shots should be fairly challenging. Chipper is going to do his best to be there for the archery shoot, so you boys and girls better do some practicing before you come.

This should be a great event. This morning Carl came in and had brought his Snapper, so the grass got cut and the camping area is ready for the anniversary party in two weeks. Chipper and I put the ceiling up this morning and cleaned up, so that is ready for the Talk Hunting duo of WVW and WKY and maybe a third party on the couch of the new porch. There are going to still be a few things to do to get ready for the party, but we should be able to get them done on Thursday and Friday morning before the gang starts rolling in. Bring plenty of cool wear, OFF, drinks and ice. I'm getting as excited as a kid on Christmas Eve and I hope all of yawl are too, we are going to have a great time.

Bubba what a great place you have at West Fork Hunting Club. I know it's hard to do anything in the kind of Heat and humidity... I just wish it was 300 miles closer to me and I would join in a heart beat.
