Do You Think They Knew?

At 1:51 PM on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 an earthquake hit my area. I actually live 4.65 miles from the epicenter. I, unlike many in my area, was lucky not to suffer any major damage to my home. I was at the local Feed Store purchasing dog food. Boy did things shake, rattle and roll!!

By the time I returned home (at 2:10) I noticed that there were no birds flying or squirrels moving about in the yard.

At approximately 5:02 pm that same day an aftershock hit. At 4:59 pm my hunting beagles started to bark as if they were all running a rabbit, then it hit. When it hit they stopped barking. At 12:43 am on Wednesday the beagles all started to bark again. Then a very strong aftershock struck at 12:45. Thursday morning at 12:59 am the beagle started again….you guessed it at 1:00 am another strong aftershock hit. This scenario has repeated itself now 7 times since the earthquake. It even happened when there was an aftershock during……

hurricane, Irene (I got hit with what is considered a tropical storm) as she danced her way up the eastern seaboard.

…..Two aftershocks hit during the storm on Saturday night with 50 mile per hour winds and driving rain the beagles, from their boxes, barked at full voice again. As soon as the rumbling and shaking stopped so did the beagles and they were quiet as the preverbal church mouse.

I made another observation today when I checked the pictures on my trial camera. The deer have been moving all day long at no predictable time in and out of my apple orchard. On the day of the earthquake no deer entered the orchard after 10:00 am that morning and none came again until 4:00 am the following morning.

Wild or tame Animals know. If we could harness their ESP, oh what hunters we could be.

Below are some pictures of the damage to my area from the earthquake and storm which I downloaded from the local newpapers. I pulled these pictures in from the local news sources. My area was Lucky when Irene did no more damage than knocking down trees and turning off the electric. The earthquake has permanently closed family owned business due to the destruction of the building that had been in many of their families for 75 to 100 years. My County lost a grade school, probably for good, and the only High School in our County may not be back in service until the 2012-2013 school year begins.

I thank the good Lord every night for sparing me from major loss and I Pray for all of those who lost so much.

Are the aftershocks over now BP?

Tuesday, November 15, 2011 Luanne

No we are still having small aftershocks but the North Anna Nuclear Power Station (was 8 miles from epicenter) has started all procedures to bring it back on-line. Of course there are demonstrators all over but NRC has checked, rechecked, and re-rechecked it out and says go ahead. At least last week FEMA finally said there would be government funds available to help all who suffered major damage. The last big aftershock we got the end of October separated a small piece of drywall on an interior wall of the house. EASY FIX with a little new drywall tape and mud. Wanted to paint that wall anyway.
