BIG Blast for Benefit4Kids! by Benefit 4 Kids

SummerBlast 2011 was full of fun events and a huge success for TalkHunting and Benefit4Kids. We were able to raise about $4000 during the event. Each event’s proceeds were donated to help sponsor Caleb Gothrup’s Caribou hunt in August 2011. Talk Hunting members came through in a big way!

It started out with the ATV ride on WesternKYHunter’s beautiful property. WV Whitetail was our chauffer. Most of the kids piled on with the coolers and set off on the trails going to some caves and an old family cemetery.

Later on Thursday, there was a Corn Hole Tournament. Everyone participated. The kids were all playing. Ameshell’s daughter, Katelyn and WV Whitetail’s team was especially fun to watch. Talk Hunting members are all about the kids!

Friday started out with a Archery Fun Shoot at WesternKY Hunter’s property. Several of the Talk Hunting Pro Staff had set up a fun 3-D course. Many of the kids were there to supervise the shoot. After a short break, it was time for the Wild Game Cookoff. As a judge, it became very difficult to decide between so much well prepared and thought out meals. In the end it was Cobrican’s Goose Gumbo that took first place. Everybody who participated were winners. Everything was great! Then there was the auction and raffles. It was heartwarming to see everyone participate. There were many times the bidding got really vigorous. Everyone had the same mission to raise money for Caleb’s hunt.

Saturday started out with the Archery Tournament and Hunt Master’s Challenge. It was great to see all the competitors do so well. The course had been modified with more challenging targets, blinds, and tree stand shooting.

After a short break, it was time for the Saturday night dinner and awards program. The restaurant in the lodge pulled the curtain to create a private room for Talk Hunting members. There was a great buffet which most members took advantage of multiple times. It was great to see all the support for Benefit4Kids. It was clear that Talk Hunting wants to do more to help Benefit4Kids support another Outdoor Wish Kid and many more.

Talkhunting members joined in and gave to help Caleb. It was heartwarming to see all the generous giving to help this young man, who has suffered so much, get his outdoor wish.  12 year old Caleb Gothrup suffers from a chronic form of Nephrotic Syndrome called Focal Segmental Glumerial Sclerosis (FSGS). Caleb has been in and out of the hospitals all his life. Even though one day, this disease will require a Kidney transplant, Caleb has remained upbeat and active, taking advantage of being outdoors as much as possible.

Please accept my and everyone at Benefit4Kids heartfelt gratitude to all the Talk Hunting pro staff and members for all their hard work and the uncompromising support for Benefit4Kids and the mission of providing Outdoor Wishes for terminally ill and life limited children nationwide such as Caleb. Benefit4Kids is a 100% volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit organization so all the money that is raised can go to help Caleb and other kids like him.
