TalkHunting Explained by the HuntMaster

What is TalkHunting all about? I get asked this a lot and while I love talking about my favorite place on the web, I can see where some confusion could take place. I am here today to eliminate this confusion and give you an insight into who we are and what we are all about.

TalkHunting Forum

TalkHunting started as a hunting forum website and that is still the heart of who we are. For those of you who don’t know, a forum is a website where members can read and share information. In our case, this information is about hunting and the membership is free. We have this information broken down into categories like trophy photos, deer hunting, turkey hunting, wild game recipes and much more. In fact, if it pertains to hunting or the outdoors, we have a category where you can add to or read about that particular subject.

However, the greatest feature of a forum can also be its worst problem. Because a forum is a place where the general public can gather to post their opinions as well as their knowledge, things can get a bit mean and testy. In fact, many forums have horrible reputations for being argumentative, mean, opinionated and cliquey. They can also be full of bashing, vulgarity and sexual undertones. When we decided to start a forum, we did it to eliminate these issues and give people a clean and friendly environment to share hunting information. We picked moderators that would keep an eye on what was being entered into the site and to keep the trash off. We definitely succeeded. TalkHunting is probably the cleanest and most family friendly hunting forum on the Internet. If it isn’t fit for the eyes of a child, it has no place here.

We also eliminated the bashing that other sites put up with. So many people like to make you feel inferior because you don’t use the same thing they use or because you don’t hunt the same way they do. We stopped that. If you try it, we will remove the post. If you keep being a basher we remove the basher. It’s as simple as that. Now if you like all of the drama, fighting and cussing that goes on at those other sites, please visit them all you want but don’t bring it back to our site. We like things calm, friendly and civilized.

A forum is also sometimes called a “community” and the TalkHunting forum takes that a few extra steps. Our members get close and many have developed friendships with other members that will last a lifetime. Its easy to get to know your fellow hunters when the trash that goes on at other sites is removed.

We also give away prizes to our forum members in drawings each month. Overall, we give away about $20,000 of hunting gear and trips each year in drawings. That is another great reason to be a forum member.

TalkHunting Magazine

Talkhunting Magazine started as a TalkHunting forum newsletter and just exploded from there. We publish this online magazine every other month but have plans to go to a monthly issue starting this spring. We have Pro Staff that write articles as well as Staff Writers and even member submitted articles. The magazine offers a great source for hunting news, tips and tricks as well as product reviews and hunting stories. Since a magazine needs less explanation that a forum did, this part will be shorter but I still encourage you to stop by and read the magazine every month. And don’t forget to click on the forum link and visit our TalkHunting community. You will be glad you did.

Conclusion

TalkHunting is a different kind of outdoor organization than most people are used to dealing with. We have been called a breath of fresh air and that is what we will continue to be. I think our Pro Staff creed says it all….

We believe any animal harvested legally and ethically is a trophy in the eye of the beholder. We believe that 99% of the hunting community will never get the opportunity to hunt in an area where massive deer are at and may never get the chance to harvest a 180" buck. So, why do so many outdoor media sources only represent that minority? We believe in representing the majority of hunters and showing that a true trophy doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with antler size.

We believe in getting kids involved in all aspects of outdoor sports. We understand that if we don't, not only is the future of hunting in danger of disappearing, the future of a generation may also be in danger. Kids in the outdoors always beat kids in the street. We believe in assisting in any way possible to make this happen.

We believe outdoor media (magazines & forums) should be 100% family friendly, American friendly and Christian friendly. People are getting tired of the filth, fighting, bashing, arguing, sexual content and bad language that is so prevalent at other websites. We believe in 100% family friendly and maintain both our magazine and our forum with that always in mind.

We believe in lawful, ethical hunting no matter what style that may be. We believe hunters need to stick together and defend all aspects of legal hunting, even if their preference is not the same as someone else’s. Using dogs, using crossbows, using bait… as long as it is legal in that area, we will stand for it and stand behind it. A house divided falls. A house united stands…  It is time we unite and stand.

We believe in honesty. There are many media sources that seem to like pulling the wool over people’s eyes. What you get at TalkHunting is what it is. No deception, no back stabbing, no lies.. Just an honest group of people doing their best to give you the best.

Robert Householder

Robert was introduced to hunting by his uncle, Jeff Hendricks, at a very young age. He grew up in the outdoors, hunting and fishing at every opportunity. He started, as most boys do, with hunting squirrels and rabbits but was soon deer hunting with his uncle and thus started a true love for deer hunting. Jeff and Robert were two of a kind and stayed in the woods or on the water as much as possible until his uncles death in 2007.

Robert was introduced to turkey hunting by a close friend, Jerry Golden, and soon developed a passion for hunting this elusive bird. It remains one of his favorite game to hunt.

Robert has branched out of just hunting in Alabama to include states like Iowa, Mississippi and Georgia. He hopes to continue to hunt game in other states in the future. Robert is a veteran of the first Gulf war and served in the USAF for a total of 7 years, including assignments in Germany, Nebraska, Texas and Illinois.

Robert is the owner of an IT Managed Services company (www.gtinow.com) in Greenville, Alabama and is the founder of TalkHunting. He has been married to his wonderful wife, Annette, since 1985 and has 3 grown children, 2 sons and a daughter. He also has one grand daughter, (Katie) and one Grandson (Jake). Robert is also a hobbyist beekeeper.

God, Family and the outdoors are his life.....

  1. Talk Hunting Explained

Thank you Hunt Master. I know will admit that I was not sure when I first signed onto this site, I had had problems in other places. The sites mostly used by the "men" were not that accepting of a woman there. The ladies sites, for the most part, bashed men. I wanted no part of either. THIS is a great place and I have made GREAT friends.

  2. Very well explained

I love this site for the value's and morals it supports. Love how everyone is treated.. This is a awesome site where women are not only treated as other ethical hunters but as a sister well matter of fact we are all treated as brothers and sisters.. If another brother or sister is in need we spring to action in aid or prayer.
